Bangladesh Bank Issues Instructions to Banks for Hajj 2027 Registration

Bangladesh Bank has instructed the country’s authorised dealer (AD) banks to take necessary measures ahead of the Hajj 2027 registration process.
Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Thursday (September 17).

The circular, sent from Bangladesh Bank headquarters to the head offices and principal offices of all authorised dealer banks engaged in foreign exchange transactions, instructed them to follow the government’s guidelines regarding Hajj 2027 registration. The central bank issued the directive following a memorandum issued by the Hajj-1 branch of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on September 9.

The circular stated that the relevant memorandum from the Ministry of Religious Affairs was attached for the information of authorised dealer banks and for taking necessary action. Bangladesh Bank also requested the banks to inform all relevant parties about the contents of the circular.

The Bangladesh Bank directive has placed emphasis on the role of banks in the Hajj registration process. Relevant banks have been instructed to take necessary measures in accordance with government directives to ensure smooth completion of financial activities related to the registration of Hajj pilgrims.
As banking channels play an important role in Hajj registration and related financial transactions, the Bangladesh Bank directive is being viewed as part of the necessary administrative preparations.
In particular, the relevant banks have been asked to prepare in advance to prevent any complications in bank-related activities, including payment of money during the Hajj registration process.

However, the circular issued by Bangladesh Bank does not mention the specific schedule for Hajj 2027 registration, registration fees or the amount payable per pilgrim. Relevant notices and directives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs remain the primary basis for these matters. The main purpose of Bangladesh Bank’s circular is to convey those government directives to authorised dealer banks and ensure necessary measures are taken.

Therefore, banks participating in the Hajj 2027 registration process will have to complete the relevant financial activities by properly following the directives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Importance has also been placed on informing customers and relevant parties about the government directives concerning registration.
