Bangladesh, India Discuss Enhancing Professional Cooperation Between Armed Forces

Bangladesh and India recently advanced their bilateral ties by discussing expanded defense cooperation, focusing on joint military training and regional maritime security. The talks occurred during a courtesy meeting at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment, bringing together the Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, and Indian High Commissioner Mr. Dinesh Trivedi. According to an official press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the dialogue underscored a shared commitment between the two neighboring nations to maintain regional stability and address common global challenges through strategic collaboration.

High Commissioner Mr. Dinesh Trivedi emphasized that New Delhi places profound importance on its deep-rooted military and strategic partnership with Dhaka. Reaffirming India’s steadfast support, the envoy stated that his country remains fully committed to cooperating with the Bangladesh Armed Forces across multiple domains, including professional development, institutional capacity building, and mutual security interests. Both sides concurred that close coordination is essential to safeguarding peace and security across the region.

The discussions further encompassed critical operational areas such as military exchange programs, disaster management frameworks, and joint tactical exercises aimed at enhancing force capabilities. Additionally, the ISPR noted that the Indian High Commissioner commended the ongoing socioeconomic initiatives undertaken by the Government of Bangladesh. The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their resolve to continuously strengthen bilateral ties and foster enduring strategic cooperation.
