Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026 Begins in Dhaka Today

The international conference ‘Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026’, organised by the research institute Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), begins in Dhaka today.
The fifth edition of the conference will be held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel and continue until October 5. The information was disclosed at a press conference yesterday.
Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman will deliver the opening address. Former and incumbent heads of state, ministers, diplomats, military experts, university professors, researchers, businesspeople and investors, journalists, human rights activists, technology experts and representatives of international development organisations are expected to attend.
At the press conference, Mr. Zillur Rahman outlined the five key pillars of this year’s Bay of Bengal Conversation. He said, “The importance of the Bay of Bengal is growing amid maritime security and regional geopolitics. As a connecting point between South and Southeast Asia, one of the key objectives of this event is to seek effective solutions to the challenges and opportunities emerging around the region.”
This year’s discussions will focus on geopolitics, security, trust, climate change, spirituality and humanity. Mr. Zillur Rahman also said CGS has already expanded its activities to the United States and plans to expand to Brussels and Dubai in the future.
CGS Executive Director Mr. Parvez Karim Abbasi said at the press conference, “The Bay of Bengal Conversation is the largest privately organised international geopolitical conference in South Asia.”
