BSF Push-In Bid Foiled at Daulatpur Border by BGB, Locals
The Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push an Indian man into Bangladesh across the Daulatpur border in Kushtia. The attempt failed because Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local people stopped it.
The BSF tried to push the man in illegally through the Jamalpur border of the upazila the day before yesterday in the evening. Local people helped BGB members to resist. After that, the BSF took the man back into India by river.
BGB and local sources say members of the BSF 146 Battalion’s Nasirapara camp tried the push in. They tried to force an unidentified man into Bangladesh by river. The spot is about 120 yards inside India from international border pillar 152/10 S, on the Jamalpur border of Pragpur Union in Daulatpur upazila.
Local people saw the incident and told the members of the Jamalpur BGB camp. BGB members rushed to the spot and stopped the push in with the help of the locals. The BSF was forced to take the man back into India by river. After the incident, BGB has increased patrols and watch along the border.
Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) Commander Lt Col Mr. Rashed Kamal Rony said BGB is always alert and professional. He said BGB is ready to stop any illegal entry and any attempt to break border law.
Top drug dealer Swapan held with 300 pieces of Yaba at Daulatpur border

Police have arrested Swapan (45), a top drug dealer of the border area, with 300 pieces of Yaba in Daulatpur, Kushtia. The District Detective Branch (DB) police arrested him the day before yesterday at about 9 pm in the Dharmadaha Bazar area. The area is next to the border in Adabaria Union of the upazila.
Swapan is the son of the late Rafiz Uddin Karigar of the Dharmadaha Bazar area. Police say he is a known and top drug dealer of the border area. They also say he faces several drug cases.
DB police said they raided the Dharmadaha Bazar area as part of the district police’s ongoing special anti drug drive. They arrested Swapan and searched him. They found 300 Yaba tablets on him. Police say he has dealt in drugs in the area for a long time. They also say he faces several cases under the Narcotics Control Act.
Kushtia District Detective Branch SI Mr. Obaidur Rahman said police filed a case against Swapan at Daulatpur Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. He said police finished the legal steps and sent him to court yesterday at noon.
Daulatpur Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Mr. Khaledur Rahman said DB police arrested Swapan of Dharmadaha with 300 pieces of Yaba. He said DB handed him over to Daulatpur Police Station. Police then finished the legal steps and sent him to court.
