China Vows to Counter U.S. ‘Bullying’ Against Iran

China has declared its determination to maintain diplomatic ties with Tehran in full accordance with international law and national sovereignty and has strongly rejected the unilateral U.S. sanctions against Iran, calling them ‘bullying’ in this regard. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Mr. Victor Gao, a professor of economics at Soochow University, stated that Beijing sees no legal justification for Washington’s unilateral sanctions against Iran or any other UN member state.
Mr. Gao stated that Beijing has never given in to U.S. pressure on these sanctions and will never do so in the future, emphasising that China-Iran relations operate totally within the framework of international law between two independent and sovereign states. He described the U.S. strategy as oppressive and added that China will use its sovereign power and take all necessary steps in accordance with international law to avoid such pressure.
