ICC Highlights Opportunities for Young Players
ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta said the tournament would provide young players with a platform to establish themselves on the international stage. He said, “The ICC Under-19 World Cup is a platform to showcase the future talent of our game. Representing their countries, it provides young players with the highest level of opportunity to progress towards building careers at the highest level.
“The players from the 16 teams will capture the attention of the world. At the same time, they will become known and serve as role models for other cricketers, inspiring them to continue their cricketing journeys.” He said.
Mr. Gupta added, “The selection of Bangladesh and Nepal as hosts reflects the ICC’s confidence and investment in the future growth of cricket. With a deep love for cricket and nearly 40 per cent of the population in both countries under the age of 20, the two nations are ideal hosts for one of the world’s biggest youth sporting events.”
