Ronaldo Could Return to Portugal Squad in November

Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine by the Portuguese Football Federation for leaving Portugal’s national team camp. However, much of the suspension period has already elapsed, meaning he is expected to be eligible for Portugal’s next international matches in November.
The incident began during a match against Norway, when coach Jorge Jesus kept Mr. Ronaldo on the bench for the entire game. Mr. Ronaldo claimed he had previously been assured that he would be given playing time. He left the Portugal camp after the alleged promise was not fulfilled. Mr. Jesus, however, denied that any such agreement existed.
Mr. Ronaldo later expressed regret over his behaviour and said he would accept the punishment. The federation’s disciplinary decision stated that he had deliberately violated team rules by leaving the camp. However, time already served under his earlier suspension was also taken into account, meaning he has completed much of the 30-day ban.
As a result, Mr. Ronaldo could be available for Portugal’s matches against Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17. However, the end of his suspension does not guarantee his return to the national team. The final decision will rest with coach Jorge Jesus when he announces the squad.
Mr. Jesus has not ruled out Mr. Ronaldo’s return. He has indicated that there is an opportunity to work with the forward again if Mr. Ronaldo wants to play and remains interested in representing Portugal.
The key question now is how the relationship between Mr. Ronaldo and Mr. Jesus develops. Mr. Ronaldo has not announced his retirement from international football and has said he remains available for the national team after serving his suspension.
The announcement of Portugal’s squad in November will clarify whether the 41-year-old Mr. Ronaldo is set to begin the next chapter of his international career.
