Cuba Boycotts Trump’s Speech at UN Session

US President Donald Trump has labeled Cuba a failed state during his address at the United Nations General Assembly. In protest against his remarks, the Cuban delegation walked out of the assembly hall. On Tuesday, September 22, Mr. Trump addressed the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Criticizing Cuba’s current political system, he stated that freedom would be restored to the country.

President Trump said his administration is working to bring about fundamental change to Cuba’s political system. In his words, the country’s government is currently under severe pressure, and this situation will change. He further added that communism would not be established in the United States, but freedom would come to Cuba. As he made these statements, the Cuban delegation staged a walkout from the assembly hall.

The United States and Cuba have been locked in political and economic conflict for decades. Tensions between the two nations persist, driven by the long-standing US trade embargo on Cuba and opposing foreign policies.
