Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Should Be Observed Through the Study and Practice of Hadith and Sunnah: Maulana Ahmad Hasan Chowdhury Fultali
Maulana Ahmad Hasan Chowdhury Fultali, Joint Secretary-General of Bangladesh Anjuman-e-Al Islah, has called for the sacred Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) to be observed not merely as a formal occasion but through the study and practice of Hadith and Sunnah, learning religious knowledge and engaging in various good deeds. He said the excellent opportunities for religious learning created on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) include Hadith memorisation competitions, which are among the finest examples. Through such initiatives, not only the winners but every participating student gets the opportunity to learn about and memorise the Hadith and Sunnah of the beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a programme organised jointly by the Bangladesh Anjuman-e-Talamiz-e-Islamia Rakhalganj Madrasa branch and the student council on Sunday (September 13) on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
Speaking as the chief guest, Maulana Ahmad Hasan Chowdhury Fultali further said that Almighty Allah has described numerous qualities and the exalted status of His Beloved in the Holy Quran and earlier heavenly scriptures. He said these noble qualities of the Prophet (SAW) should be discussed with due importance at Milad-un-Nabi gatherings so that his followers can properly reflect his example in their daily lives. Observing Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) through positive and beneficial activities can play a significant role in promoting the propagation of religious teachings in society, he added.
The programme was chaired by Maulana Muhammad Shehab Uddin Alipuri, principal of Rakhalganj Madrasa, and moderated by Maulana Shihabur Rahman, an Arabic lecturer. Manzurul Karim Mohsin, central president of Talamiz-e-Islamia, addressed the programme as the chief speaker. Special guests included Ahkamul Islam Bulbul, general secretary of Talamiz-e-Islamia Sylhet West District; Maulana Abdur Rouf, vice-principal of the madrasa; and Mahbubur Rahman, former vice-chairman of Dakshin Surma Upazila, along with prominent local educationists and Islamic scholars.
After the discussion, a grand procession was brought out from the madrasa premises after Zuhr prayers to mark Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). The procession passed through the main roads of Rakhalganj Bazar before returning to the madrasa premises, where it concluded with a prayer.
