Mahmudah Chowdhury and Mejbaur Rahman Sumon to Receive Fazlul Haque Memorial Awards
The Fazlul Haque Memorial Awards 2026 have been announced, continuing the annual tradition. Filmmaker Mejbaur Rahman Sumon and film journalist Mahmudah Chowdhury have been selected for the awards, instituted by renowned novelist Rabeya Khatun.
The awards have been presented for the past 22 years in memory of the late Fazlul Haque, editor of Cinema, Bangladesh’s first film magazine, and director of President, the country’s first children’s film.
The awards will be formally handed over at a ceremony on October 26, 2026, marking the death anniversary of Fazlul Haque.
