Four New Members Join Cabinet, Swearing-In Tonight

The government headed by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is getting four new members. According to cabinet sources on Friday, the newly elected President will administer the oath of office to the incoming ministers tonight in Bangabhaban’s Darbar Hall. The BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, MP; Jatiya Party Chairman Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partha, MP; Bandarban MP Saching Prue Jerry; and Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Linkon are the four new cabinet members. A portfolio reorganisation is also expected in a number of ministries, including Information and Broadcasting, Local Government, Power and Energy, Agriculture, Food, and Civil Aviation.

The Bangabhaban presidential swearing-in event is ready to go. The President’s Press Secretary, Md. Sarwar Alam, made the following statement about the event’s preparedness: ‘Everything is ready for the President’s swearing-in ceremony. The event is being organised by the Cabinet Division’. According to Cabinet Division officials, about 1,200 people have been invited to the event.

The ceremony for Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the incoming president, is set for this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani will oversee the process, and Acting Speaker Kaiser Kamal will administer the oath of office to the next President. The Cabinet Division’s invitation cards state that the national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran will be played before the Speaker formally administers the presidential oath.
