Government Moving Forward to Procure Chinese J-10CE Fighter Jets

According to Prime Minister’s Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman, the Bangladesh government is actively seeking strategic plans to purchase China-made J-10CE multi-role fighter planes to fully modernise the Bangladesh Air Force. During a press event at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Mr. Rahman disclosed that draft agreements for the MRCA and attack helicopters had been finalised and sent for formal clearance. Fourth-generation combat aircraft, a variety of helicopters, and advanced UAV systems are all included in this extensive purchasing drive, restricted to the current fiscal budget allocation or the following cycle.

Mr. Rahman emphasised tactical capabilities, noting that during a regional battle, an Indian Rafale was successfully shot down by a Chinese J-10. He highlighted strong economic viability by pointing out that Chinese fighters are far less expensive than more costly European models like the Rafale or Eurofighter Typhoon. Through these strategic military acquisitions, the advisor expressed profound hope that the administration will take all necessary actions to secure national defence.

The high-profile press conference ended with strategic insights and formal updates on modernisation. Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaliv Rahman Partha, State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury, Information Secretary Mahbuba Farjana, and Principal Information Officer Syed Abdal Ahmad were among the present authorities. Finalised contract drafts are an important step in improving the armed services’ critical operating capabilities, according to a written statement given out during the ceremony.
