Hefazat-e-Islam Strongly Condemns Attempted Drone Attack Targeting Makkah

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari and Secretary General Allama Shayekh Sajidur Rahman have strongly condemned and denounced the reported attempted drone attack by Yemen’s armed Houthi group targeting the holy city of Makkah Mukarramah, expressing outrage over the incident.

In a joint statement of protest sent to the media today (September 17), the two leaders said the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah are the spiritual centers, the heartbeat of their faith and the highest symbols of devotion for billions of Muslims around the world. Protecting the sanctity and security of Makkah Mukarramah and the Baytullah is a duty more precious than life itself to the entire Muslim Ummah. Any audacious attempt to make the boundaries of the holy Haramain Sharifain a target of military conflict is an extremely provocative act against Islam and the Muslim Ummah and a grave violation of the limits of tolerance.

The two leaders further stressed that involving the Kaaba Sharif and the holy city of Makkah in struggles for political interests or military dominance is a heinous crime that has deeply wounded the religious sentiments of Muslims worldwide. Such a brazen attempt cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. To protect the dignity of the holy land and restore peace and stability in the Middle East, the Muslim world must immediately mount a united resistance.

Calling on the OIC and the international community, they said effective diplomatic measures must be taken to bring a lasting end to the bloodshed and conflict in Yemen and across the Middle East, while strict action must also be taken to thwart any conspiracy aimed at undermining the security of the holy land.

In the statement, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to stand by Saudi Arabia in the interest of the security of Makkah and Madinah and made a fervent appeal to the Muslim Ummah worldwide to remain highly alert and vigilant in protecting the holy land.
