Include Islamic Scholars In State Management: Pir Shaheb Of Charmonai

Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Pir Shaheb of Charmonai and Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, has urged the government to meaningfully involve Ulema-e-Karam in the ongoing state reconstruction process following the July mass uprising. Speaking as the chief guest at the National Ulama Summit at the Krishibid Institution in Farmgate, Dhaka, he asserted that a recurring historical injustice in the region is that Islamic scholars play a pioneering role in political transitions yet are systematically sidelined from nation-building, leaving the sacrifices of the people unfulfilled.
Addressing pressing public concerns, the Pir Shaheb sharply criticized the administration over its handling of public health and economic crises. He pointed out a lack of proactive government initiatives to combat hundreds of deaths from dengue and measles, while also condemning a growing tendency to shift systemic burdens onto citizens through continuous price hikes. He urged authorities to address problems at their roots rather than relying on inflationary measures to ease economic pressures.
The summit, organized by the Jatiya Ulama Mashayekh Aimmah Parishad, concluded with the announcement of its new central committee for the 2027 to 2028 session. The newly declared leadership features Mufti Mizanur Rahman Sayed as President, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain as Senior Vice-President, Mufti Rezaul Karim Abrar as General Secretary, and Mufti Shamsuddoha Ashrafee as Senior Joint General Secretary.
The high-profile event drew several prominent religious and national figures to the stage. Attendees included Munazere Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaat Allama Nurul Islam Olipuri, former Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Allama Yahya Mahmud, Hefazat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Ahmad Ali Kasemi, and Islami Andolan Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, along with other prominent scholars and leaders.
