Jamiat Rallies at Baitul Mukarram Demanding Fascism’s Trial and Four Points

The Dhaka City North and South units of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh staged a demonstration rally on Friday following Jummah prayers at the North Gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The rally focused on pressing demands including justice against fascism, an immediate halt to terrorism and extortion, protection of public security and dignity, and reasonable adjustments to fuel, gas, and electricity prices. Prominent leaders from both units, alongside central figures, addressed the gathering to voice their concerns over prevailing national issues.

Addressing the rally, Senior Vice-President Maulana Abdur Rob Yousufi highlighted the prolonged suffering of citizens caused by land grabbing, extortion, and general lawlessness. He demanded strict accountability for human rights violations, killings, and corruption under fascist rule, while urging the swift extradition of Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh. He stated, ‘Proper justice must be served and executed for the killings, torture, corruption, and human rights violations committed during the fascist rule,’ adding that they will not go to India merely to attend feasts.

Focusing on the economic struggles of the public, Senior Joint Secretary General Maulana Bahauddin Zakaria condemned the soaring prices of essential utilities, noting that daily life has become unbearable for common people. He demanded that prices for gas, electricity, and fuel be fixed at affordable levels considering financial capacity, warning against public-unfriendly decisions. Additionally, speakers firmly warned against any conspiracies targeting Mufti Abdul Malek, Khatib of the National Mosque, asserting that the devout Muslim community would not remain silent if any harm came to him.

In his presidential address, Mufti Maqbool Hossain Qasemi, President of Dhaka City North, strongly urged the government to implement effective measures against terrorism and extortion to establish peace and stability. Jointly moderated by Mufti Nur Mohammad Qasemi and Maulana Bin Yamin, the event featured speeches from key figures including Maulana Zainul Abedin, Maulana Rashed Elias, Mufti Imranul Bari Siraji, and student leaders Ridwan Mazhari and Saad Bin Zakir, who collectively called for immediate government action.
