Mahmuda Chowdhury and Mezbaur Rahman Sumon to Receive Fazlul Haque Memorial Award

The Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2026 has been announced, continuing its annual tradition. Introduced by renowned fiction writer Rabeya Khatun, this year’s award will be conferred upon film director Mezbaur Rahman Sumon for his contributions to cinema and Mahmuda Chowdhury for film journalism.

In memory of the late Fazlul Haque, editor of Bangladesh’s first film-focused magazine, Cinema, and director of the country’s first children’s film, President, this award has been presented for the past 22 years. The official award ceremony will take place on October 26, 2026, marking his death anniversary.
