Major reshuffle at top levels of police

Seventeen senior police officers have been transferred and given new responsibilities, with major changes made to key posts in RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Branch (SB), Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPMP).

The transfers and postings were ordered in three separate notifications signed by Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Tawsif Ahmed on Tuesday (August 25). Among the changes, PBI DIG Md Humayun Kabir has been transferred to RAB as Additional Director General (DIG), while Railway Police Additional DIG Md Tofayel Ahmed Mia has been made Joint Police Commissioner of DMP. SB DIG Mu. Mahbubur Rashid has been appointed RPMP Commissioner (DIG).

Another notification transferred nine officers holding the rank of superintendent of police. Of them, Md Shahadat Hossain, M K H Jahangir Hossain and Md Abdur Rahman have been transferred to PBI; Md Zafar Hossain and Muhammad Khaled-uz-Zaman to CID; S M Rafiqul Islam to APBn; and Md Abul Kalam Azad to an in-service training centre. S M Sirajul Huda has been made commandant of the Jhenaidah In-Service Training Centre, while Md Riazul Kabir has been attached to the office of the DIG, Rangpur Range.
