Expat Footballer Mohammad Nehal Receives Bangladeshi Passport

Bangladeshi-origin British footballer Mohammad Nehal has reportedly received his Bangladeshi passport, successfully clearing a major administrative hurdle in his path to representing the Bangladesh national football team. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder currently plays for Glacis United FC in the Gibraltar Football League. Interest surrounding Mr. Nehal mounted in Bangladesh football circles last August, sparking discussions about his potential inclusion in the national squad. Football databases had previously listed his nationality as dual Bangladeshi and English.

However, obtaining a Bangladeshi passport does not automatically guarantee a spot in the national team. Beyond earning a call-up and securing a place in the head coach’s plans, Mr. Nehal must also fulfill FIFA’s international player eligibility criteria. His primary focus now shifts to proving his capabilities on the pitch and earning his place in the national squad through performance.
