Bangladesh’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is set to feature in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) for the first time, signing with the Melbourne Renegades for the 2026- 27 season. He replaces injured left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff. New head coach Luke Ronchi praised Mr. Mustafizur, who has 423 wickets in 331 T20 matches, highlighting his powerplay and death-over wicket-taking abilities. Alongside Jonny Bairstow and Michael Bracewell, Mr. Mustafizur joins the Renegades’ overseas roster.

Meanwhile, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has transferred from the Melbourne Stars to the Adelaide Strikers. Expressing his excitement to play for the Melbourne side, Mr. Mustafizur said in a club statement, ‘I am looking forward to playing in the Big Bash for the first time with the Melbourne Renegades. Playing at the MCG will be something special, and I am thrilled to call it my home ground. I want to join my teammates and use my experience to help the team.’

Due to ILT20 commitments, he will miss the season opener against the Perth Scorchers before joining the squad in Chennai, eyeing matches against the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars. Coach Luke Ronchi also expressed satisfaction with the signing, emphasizing Mustafizur’s proven match-winning capability across various global franchise tournaments. This landmark addition brings immense experience to the Renegades’ bowling attack as they aim for success in the upcoming BBL season.
