Held at 11:45 AM local time, the bilateral session focused on key economic priorities, including export diversification, skill development initiatives, and deepening overall trade partnerships between the two nations.
During the discussion, PM Tarique Rahman lauded JETRO’s active role and expressed strong optimism regarding major investments in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones. Emphasizing human resource development, the PM called upon Japan to assist in establishing specialized skill development programs and language training centers for Bangladeshi youth. He noted, ‘Such initiatives will play a crucial role in sending skilled manpower to Japan’s labor market and consolidating long-term economic partnerships,’ reinforcing the mutual benefits of structured labor mobility.
Welcoming the positive outlook, JETRO President Kataoka Susumu praised Bangladesh’s economic trajectory and strategic location, stating, ‘Bangladesh holds immense potential for global investment owing to its impressive economic growth.’ He added that current government policies under PM Tarique Rahman have generated widespread interest among Japanese investors, concluding the event with a celebratory luncheon.
