Prime Minister stops in Istanbul on way to New York
Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has made a stopover in Istanbul, Turkey. He is traveling to New York to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
He landed at Istanbul Airport at 10:55 AM local time on Monday. The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Mr. Saleh Shibli confirmed this news.
The Prime Minister left Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport earlier that morning. He departed around 5:45 AM on a Turkish Airlines flight bound for New York.
The flight will stop in Istanbul for two hours and 35 minutes. It is scheduled to depart for New York at 2:10 PM local time. The flight should land at John F Kennedy International Airport at 5:55 PM New York time.
His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman is accompanying him on this trip. The full delegation includes 35 members. Among them are 15 ministers, state ministers, advisers, and special assistants. Officials handling security, media, and personal duties are also part of the delegation.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ms. Irene Zubaida Khan will welcome the Prime Minister at New York airport. Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States Mr. Tareque Md. Ariful Islam will also greet him there.
A motorcade will take the Prime Minister from the airport to the Hyatt Grand Central New York hotel. He will stay at this hotel throughout his visit.
