Rally Threat Over Denied Meeting With Imran

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that he will not visit Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail prior to September 27 unless the government officially confirms and arranges his meeting with imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Mr. Afridi criticised the authorities for disobeying high court decisions that allow weekly access when he spoke outside the prison on Thursday after being prevented from seeing the former prime minister. In the midst of a serious national crisis, he cautioned that disobeying court orders is a serious violation of the nation’s legal system, raising political tensions.

The PTI leadership has promised to intensify its national protest to put more pressure on the federal government in response to ongoing limitations on visiting privileges. Afridi declared that the party will launch aggressive street protests, nationwide demonstrations, and widespread road blockades if access to Imran remains blocked. He concluded his warning by announcing a large march against Islamabad on September 27, promising to rally two million people to demand their leader’s freedom and proper political space because they saw him as the sole answer to Pakistan’s ongoing issues.
