Resistance to be built against those seeking to turn country into a client state: Rizvi
BNP’s Acting Secretary General Advocate Mr. Ruhul Amin Rizvi said anti-state, anti-democracy, and anti-sovereignty forces have no place in Bangladesh. He said the Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal and BNP would build strong resistance in every street and corner of the country against anyone seeking to turn Bangladesh into a colony or a puppet state.
He made these remarks on Friday after Jumu’ah prayers at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal organized a protest rally there titled “Against Destabilizing the Country Through Planned Terrorism.” Ulama Dal convenor Maulana Mr. Gazi Md. Selim Reza presided over the event.
Mr. Ruhul Amin Rizvi said Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman represents the third generation of his family to address the UN. His father spoke there in 1980, and his mother spoke there in 1992. He said their eldest son, Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman, addressed the UN this time.
He said the Prime Minister called for reason, diplomacy, education, and humanity to replace weapons as tools of change, calling it an outstanding speech. He said the Prime Minister emphasized that every nation must have relations with every other nation based on equal dignity.
He noted that the Prime Minister reaffirmed support for establishing an independent Palestinian state, and called for the dignified return of Muslim Rohingya refugees currently in Bangladesh to their home country. He said Mr. Tarique Rahman also spoke on economic development and various other issues.
Mr. Rizvi said people around the world want peace, not war. He said war raises the price of goods, food, fuel, gas, causes power outages, shuts down factories, and creates unemployment. He said the Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal’s protest today targets those trying to destabilize the country, including those burning vehicles and trying to halt Bangladesh’s democratic progress.
The BNP Acting Secretary General said BNP came to power through free and fair elections, not through any rigged or midnight election. He said Mr. Tarique Rahman’s government and the BNP led coalition hold power through the long awaited votes of the people.
He said the BNP government works for the people, their welfare, and social protection. He repeated that anti-state, anti-democracy, and anti-sovereignty forces have no place in the country, and that the Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal and BNP would resist, in every street and corner, anyone trying to turn Bangladesh into a colony or a puppet state.
A protest march was held from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram mosque following the event. BNP’s Acting Secretary for Volunteer Affairs Mr. Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu and various level leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal also joined the march.
