Rotary Club of Dhaka Downtown Completes ‘Fighting Against Measles’ Project

In response to the growing prevalence of measles in Bangladesh, the Rotary Club of
Dhaka Downtown has extended support to strengthen child healthcare services. Marking Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Month, the club implemented a month-long humanitarian initiative titled “Fighting Against Measles.”
Under the project, nebulizer machines were donated to several healthcare facilities,
including Azimpur Maternity Hospital, the Infertility Training Center and 100-Bed Mother and Child Hospital in Mohammadpur, and the 400-Bed Bangladesh Neonatal Hospital in Narayanganj.
On July 25, nebulizer machines were handed over to Azimpur Maternity Hospital and
the Mother and Child Hospital in Mohammadpur. Directors and officials of the respective hospitals attended the ceremony and praised the Rotary Club of Dhaka Downtown for its contribution to child healthcare. Representing the club were President Rotarian Asaduzzaman,
Past President Rotarian Harun Mahmud, and Rotarian Dr. Mizanur Rahman.
As part of the final phase of the month-long program, another nebulizer machine was
donated to Bangladesh Neonatal Hospital in Narayanganj on August 20. Club President Rotarian Asaduzzaman and Rotarian Md. Abdur Rouf Mia attended the handover ceremony. With this donation, the “Fighting Against Measles” project was formally concluded.
The Rotary Club of Dhaka Downtown stated that it will continue to undertake similar
humanitarian initiatives in the future to promote maternal and child health and strengthen the capacity of healthcare institutions. Through support for children’s healthcare and other public welfare activities, the club aims to uphold Rotary’s motto, “Service
Above Self.”
