Salman Khan summoned by court over multi-crore fraud case

A district court in Chandigarh has ordered Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd to appear before it on October 5 in connection with an alleged multi-crore fraud involving a Being Human jewellery showroom. The case was filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta, who alleged that he was persuaded to invest nearly Rs 30 million, including Rs 10 million for the construction of a showroom in Manimajra, after being promised a profitable business under the Being Human brand.

Gupta claimed he fulfilled all contractual obligations and launched the showroom but never received the promised business support. He further alleged that the company’s main jewellery supply centre shut down in February 2020, creating a product shortage that caused heavy financial losses. According to the complaint, six individuals associated with the company misled him into making the investment. However, the jewellery company has denied the allegations from the outset, maintaining that Salman Khan had no direct involvement in the 2018 business agreement.

It said the company had only obtained a licence from the Salman Khan Foundation in 2015 to use the Being Human brand name, while all responsibility for manufacturing, marketing, and selling the jewellery rested solely with the company. After considering submissions from both sides, the court has scheduled the next hearing for October 5. All parties have been directed to appear in person and present their responses to the allegations.
