Summit cuts gas supply amid LNG shortage

Gas supply from the floating LNG terminal at Maheshkhali is not increasing for the time being. As no LNG carrier has arrived, Petrobangla has instructed Summit Power Limited to reduce gas supply from its terminal. As a result, the gas shortage will continue.

As a result, a total of 740 million cubic feet of LNG is being supplied from the two terminals since this morning. The combined capacity of the two terminals, however, is 1,100 million cubic feet. There were expectations among industries, residential consumers and people involved in the transport sector that gas supply would increase after Excelerate’s terminal became operational.
