Home Minister warns: Mass Killers Will Never Be Allowed to Return to Politics in Bangladesh
The Path of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) Is the True Path of Islam and the Foundation of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer and senior Islamic scholar Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari has strongly criticised Jamaat-e-Islami and the ideology of Maududism. He said that the path followed by the Companions of the Prophet is the right path and the way of Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jamaat.
He said, “The religion of Jamaat-e-Islami is not our religion. The Islam of Jamaat-e-Islami is not our Islam.” He alleged that Maududism has questioned a basic part of Islam by rejecting the Companions of the Prophet as the standard for truth.
Speaking as the chief guest at the same conference, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said those involved in mass killings, torture and fascist rule would not be allowed to do politics in Bangladesh again. He said the people of the country would not allow those who shed human blood and carried out mass killings without showing any regret to return to politics.
The statements came on Friday (November 6) at the 104th two-day annual religious conference of Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari, Chattogram.
Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari said the path followed by the Companions would continue until the Day of Judgment. He said the path of Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jamaat is the path of the Companions. This path reached the Muslim community through the Quran and Hadith. He said this is the true path of Islam and those who follow it will attain salvation.
He said that, according to a prediction of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), 72 misguided groups appeared among Muslims. He also said that various misguided ideas are now spreading.
Criticising those who say that the Companions are not a standard for truth, the Hefazat chief said Muslims received the basic practices of Islam, including the rules of the five daily prayers, through the Companions.
He said the Companions directly saw how Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed and passed the method to the next generation. Therefore, rejecting the Companions as a standard for truth raises questions about the continuity of Islamic teachings.
He also criticised the ideas of Abul Ala Maududi, founder of Jamaat-e-Islami. He said Maududi did not accept the Companions as a standard for truth. According to him, some of Maududi’s statements conflict with the traditional beliefs and explanations of Islam.
In this regard, he said the religious ideas of Jamaat-e-Islami are different from the Islamic ideas followed by them. At one point in his speech, he strongly criticised Jamaat-e-Islami and some other religious-political groups.
On the other hand, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the Awami League, which he described as an oppressive, authoritarian, fascist and killer party, would have no politics in Bangladesh again.
He said they had shed people’s blood and tortured the country to establish injustice, oppression and bad rule. He also said that a person like BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had died without treatment.
He said, “I want to tell those who are creating confusing politics through different processes to make their return easier that the people of Bangladesh will not allow those involved in mass killings to do politics in this country.”
He said those who carried out mass killings but still did not express sorrow, regret or repentance were forced to leave the country in the face of the mass uprising. He said they are staying in Delhi and will never be able to return to Bangladesh and do politics.
The Home Minister also said there may be political differences and divisions among them. Everyone may have politics based on different ideas. But, he said, all must reach an agreement on those who killed people, carried out mass killings, tortured Islamic scholars for 17 years and prevented people from praying in mosques.
Addressing those who are creating confusion in the name of movements, he said the government may be criticised, but the criticism must be constructive. People may not cooperate with the government, but they should not stop cooperating with the people of the country. He said their goal is to keep the country united and move it towards development and prosperity.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed reached Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari. He met Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari and received his blessings. He later spoke as the chief guest at the conference.
The 104th two-day annual religious conference of the madrasa began after Fajr prayers on Thursday. The conference was held under the chairmanship of Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari. Prominent Islamic scholars, religious thinkers and other religious figures from different parts of the country took part in the conference.
