Three men pose as police, gang-rape teenage girl in Delhi
Three men allegedly gang-raped a 17 year old girl in a park near Kalkaji temple in New Delhi. The men posed as police officers during the attack. Police confirmed the incident. The girl lives in Delhi.
She went to Kalkaji temple last Monday evening with her 17 year old boyfriend to offer prayers. After finishing their prayers, the couple walked to a park located between Kalkaji temple and the ISKCON temple around 7:30 PM.
Police said the three accused men appeared to be between 25 and 30 years old. They approached the teenage couple in the park and identified themselves as police officers.
According to the complaint, the men threatened the couple and then sexually assaulted the girl. Someone called the police control room from the scene, and the call reached officers around 8:45 PM. A police team rushed to the park soon after and took the girl to a hospital for a medical examination.
Police said they will take further legal action based on the victim’s statement. Investigators are closely reviewing CCTV footage from the park and the surrounding area to identify the accused and confirm the full sequence of events.
Investigators are also gathering information about who else was present in or near the park at the time of the attack. Police have filed a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) along with other relevant laws. They said a strong effort is underway to identify and arrest the three accused men.
