Trump Concedes Election Defeat Was Driven by Iran Attack

U.S. President Donald Trump has acknowledged that the ongoing conflict with Iran played a major role in the Republicans’ crushing defeat in the U.S. midterm elections. In this election, the Democratic Party seized control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Fox News, Mr. Trump said, ‘I think a big part of it was Iran. But at the same time, people understood the importance of the steps I took regarding Iran. Everyday voters were perhaps not ready to accept short-term consequences, such as rising fuel prices.’
Dismissing the possibility of any cabinet reshuffle in the wake of the electoral setback, Mr. Trump stated he is prepared to battle the Democratic Party on policy matters when necessary. He also made it clear that if Democrats in Congress attempt to pass any unreasonable bills, he will straightforwardly exercise his veto power to block them.
