US President Donald Trump has posted on social media platform Truth Social about Boeing’s new aircraft sales agreements with Bangladesh and Turkey. He described the deals as important for US manufacturing, exports and employment.

In a post on Thursday (September 24), Mr Trump said Bangladesh and Turkey had announced plans to purchase a total of 111 Boeing aircraft. He also said they had options to purchase an additional 50 aircraft.

Bangladesh’s national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, signed a supplementary agreement with Boeing on Wednesday (September 23) to purchase 11 more aircraft. Under the agreement, the airline will purchase five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 aircraft.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York. Earlier in April this year, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed an agreement to purchase 14 Boeing aircraft. With the addition of the latest 11, Biman’s total Boeing orders this year have reached 25 aircraft.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s national carrier, Turkish Airlines, has signed an agreement to purchase 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 50 737 MAX aircraft.

In his post, Doland Trump highlighted the new Boeing orders as important for US manufacturing and exports. He also said the agreements would boost production in the United States and create employment opportunities.

Boeing said the aircraft from Bangladesh’s new order are part of Biman’s plan to modernise its fleet and expand its international network. The new aircraft will also help improve fuel efficiency and increase the fleet’s capacity.
