Regarding unequal salary raises within the same organisation

Question: Some people work in the same organization. One gets a raise every year, while another gets no extra pay even after ten years. Is this fair?

Answer: It is hard to say in simple words whether this is fair or not. If there is no condition for regular raises, then not raising a salary is not an injustice. Also, if one worker has a condition for a raise, giving that raise and not giving one to others is not an injustice. In many cases, a raise comes fast to keep a worker or because the work is good. This does not happen for others. The matter depends on the situation and needs explanation. It is hard to call it discrimination or unfairness in one word.
