4,341 Hajj Pilgrims to Get Refund of BDT 4.87 Crore Surplus
A surplus of BDT 4,87,23,014 is being refunded by the Bangladeshi government to 4,341 pilgrims who completed the Hajj under official supervision in 2026. The extra money comes from lower home rent as well as savings on several services and administrative expenses. During a press conference held at the Secretariat on Sunday, September 6, Religious Affairs Minister Mr. Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad revealed these details. He confirmed that checks have already been given to ten pilgrims and that the remaining funds will be deposited directly into their individual bank accounts.
Package-1 (Special) recipients at the Bushra Al Durra Hotel receive BDT 58,697.32; short-package pilgrims receive BDT 46,888.40; and those with upgraded two-seat or three-seat accommodations receive up to BDT 1,80,572.71 and BDT 1,31,735.53, respectively. Based on their particular residential arrangements, pilgrims under Package-2 who stay at facilities like the hotels in Luluat Al Tawhid, Rawdat Al Shuruq, and Manar Al Shuruq are also getting targeted refunded payments. Additionally, pilgrims participating in the General Hajj Package-3 at Hotel Number One will each get BDT 3,718.09; however, 23 pilgrims will not receive a refund since their medical bills exceeded the amount covered by their health insurance.
Minister Mr. Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad said that the government has made strong efforts to significantly cut costs for the trip next year. For the 2027 Hajj, the government has created two different packages, each costing BDT 6,15,263 and BDT 5,05,648. To lessen the financial burden on upcoming pilgrims, the official airfare has been successfully lowered to BDT 1,30,000.
