$915 Million Remittance Arrives in Eight Days

Bangladesh received $915 million in remittances in the first eight days of August, maintaining the positive trend seen since the beginning of the 2026-27 fiscal year. The inflow was 42.9 percent higher than in the same period last year, according to the latest Bangladesh Bank report. The country received $313 million between August 6 and 8, while $196 million came in on August 4 and 5.
Total remittance inflow reached $3.773 billion from the beginning of the fiscal year through August 8, compared with $3.118 billion during the same period last year, marking a nearly 21 percent year-on-year increase. The growing use of banking channels for sending remittances is also contributing positively to the country’s foreign exchange inflow.
Officials said the sustained growth in remittances could provide relief to foreign exchange reserves and help maintain macroeconomic stability. Remittance inflow also recorded strong growth in July, the first month of the fiscal year, and the positive trend continuing into August has raised expectations of further growth in expatriate earnings this year.
