India Concerned Over Pakistan’s Fifth-Generation Fighter Jet

Pakistan is planning to acquire J-35 stealth fighter jets from China. Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Mr. A.P. Singh said the acquisition of the Chinese-made fifth-generation fighter jets would concern India. However, he said the Indian Air Force has the necessary capabilities to deal with the challenge.
Mr. Singh made the remarks while speaking to the media on Saturday ahead of India’s 94th Air Force Day. The country will observe Air Force Day on October 8.
He said India aims to induct 36 to 40 fighter jets annually to increase the number of its fighter squadrons. The planned fleet will include the Tejas Mk-1A, Tejas Mk-2, Rafale and, in the future, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
At the same time, India is developing and producing Astra Mk-1, Mk-2 and Mk-3 missiles to enhance its long-range air combat capabilities. The Astra Mk-3 may have a range of more than 350 kilometres.
India is also considering acquiring Russia’s R-37M and France’s Meteor missiles.
The Air Force chief further said that if an adversary acquires fifth-generation fighter jets, India needs to accelerate its AMCA programme and take alternative measures if necessary.
