UAE Ambassador Meets Mahdi Amin to Discuss Expanding Job Opportunities for Bangladeshis

Prime Minister’s Adviser and spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office Mahdi Amin met with UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Humoudi to discuss expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting was held on Tuesday morning at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The two sides discussed the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and the UAE and their close ties based on Muslim brotherhood. They also recalled the strengthening of bilateral relations during the tenures of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Ms. Khaleda Zia.

They also discussed the recent high-level meeting between Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Building on that meeting, they exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations and increasing people-to-people contacts.

Expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshis in the UAE was a key focus of the discussion. In particular, they explored opportunities for Bangladeshi nationals to work as taxi and truck drivers, as well as the possibility of sending more skilled workers to the country.

The meeting also covered ways to expand bilateral trade, increase UAE investment in Bangladesh, strengthen cooperation in the energy sector and attract new investment in infrastructure and industry. Both sides stressed the importance of making better use of opportunities in areas of mutual interest to make the economic partnership between Bangladesh and the UAE stronger, more dynamic and more effective.
