Equality, human dignity and social justice are the core of all religions: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman said equality, human dignity and social justice are the core of every religion. He said the welfare of humanity is one of the main teachings of all religions. He said this in a message for “Sharadiya Durga Puja” the day before yesterday. In it, he greeted the Hindu community and followers of Sanatan Dharma in the country on Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of the biggest religious festivals of Hindus in Bangladesh and around the world.
In the message, the Prime Minister said everyone must keep peace in society. People should follow their own religious rules and culture and also keep mutual respect, honour and care for one another. In the Hindu belief, Goddess Durga comes from heaven to earth to wish good for the world. She does good for her devotees, destroys the enemy and nurtures creation. This worship of the end of evil, and of truth and beauty, gives Sharadiya Durgotsab a special meaning.
He said people of many faiths and every group and community in the country practise their own religion with great joy, and will keep doing so. He said this is the beauty of the old religious and social values and culture of Bangladesh. Through religious, cultural and social events, the friendship, harmony, goodwill and brotherhood among our many faiths, tribes and communities shine out as Bangladeshis. He said Bangladesh has again begun its journey toward democracy after driving out the fascist at the cost of thousands of lives.
He said a huge task of rebuilding Bangladesh has begun. He said the promise of the government is to build a welfare based, safe and humane Bangladesh for all citizens, whatever their party, opinion, religion or race. He hoped the message of goodwill and harmony will enrich the many sides of our society and outlook on life. He said religion belongs to each person, but the state belongs to all. He said religion belongs to each person, but everyone has the right to safety.
He told the Hindu community, “Brothers and sisters, celebrate the festival with joy and enthusiasm, without worry and in safety, across the country.” He greeted them once again.
