Hebron Faces Severe Humanitarian Crisis Under Week-Long Israeli Siege

A week has passed since Israeli forces imposed a strict military lockdown on Hebron, one of the major cities in the occupied West Bank, bringing daily life in the city to a virtual standstill.
Israeli military operations, searches of homes and the eviction of residents from their houses, which are then converted into military posts, have triggered a severe humanitarian crisis.
According to an Al Jazeera report, the prolonged lockdown has pushed Hebron’s businesses and economy to the brink of collapse. With roads closed and military restrictions in place, residents are being deprived of essential supplies and medical services.
Many Palestinian families have also been forced to leave their homes and seek shelter with relatives and neighbours. Local residents say the siege has turned their daily lives into a form of imprisonment.
The United Nations and various human rights organisations have expressed deep concern over the situation. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society reported that, during the lockdown, numerous Palestinian homes had been vandalised and many people arbitrarily detained.
Despite calls from the international community to end the repression, Israeli forces continue their aggressive operations.
