Police to File Case if Tahsif’s Family Does Not: Naval Police Chief

The family of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant K.M. Tahsif Souri, 28, has not yet filed a case over the recovery of his body. However, Additional Inspector General of Police and Chief of Naval Police Md. Rezaul Karim said police would file a case as the complainant if the family does not take legal action.
He confirmed the matter at around 3:45pm on Friday (October 30). He said the process of filing a case by the family over Mr. Tahsif’s death was still underway. If the family does not file a case, police will take legal action and file one themselves.
Meanwhile, police recovered a motorcycle from the Mazar Basti area of Tongi on Friday morning. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) headquarters is examining whether the motorcycle belonged to Mr. Tahsif Souri. Earlier, the PBI said a motorcycle had been found approximately 50 yards from the Turag River. An investigation was underway to establish its identity.
According to police, Mr. Tahsif had been missing since the night of October 27. The following day, Wednesday, Naval Police went to the scene after receiving information through the National Emergency Service 999. At around 4:30pm, his body was recovered from the Turag River in the Uttarkhan area.
At the time of recovery, Mr. Tahsif was wearing white pyjamas and a black shirt. A watch was found on his wrist and an iPhone was recovered from his pocket. Police identified him through the phone. Mr. Tahsif’s father said his son had spent the entire day on October 27 shopping for family members. After evening, he left home in response to a call from a junior named Deep. He never returned home.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage showing Mr. Tahsif’s movements shortly before his death has emerged. The footage shows him exchanging a handshake with his junior and friend, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep. They then left home on separate motorcycles. The PBI has already taken Deep into custody for questioning in connection with Mr. Tahsif’s death. Investigators are examining the information obtained during questioning.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the actual cause of Mr. Tahsif’s death, what happened to him before the incident, and whether the recovered motorcycle is connected to the case. Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Habib said, “I called the deceased Mr. Tahsif’s father and asked him to come to the police station to file a case. He has not come to the police station yet. If he comes, a case will be filed at our police station. So far, it has been decided that a case will be filed at our police station.”
