Delivery Boy Brutally Assaulted by Extremists in India Over Muslim Identity

A Blinkit delivery executive in Hyderabad, India, was allegedly targeted and brutally assaulted by a warehouse manager and a group of individuals solely due to his religious identity. The victim, Habib Ansari, a native of Bihar’s Banka district who has lived in the Golconda area for five years working as a delivery agent, reported that the violent mob ambushed him late at night. The attack took place around 11:00 PM on November 3 in Panchavati Colony under the Raidurgam police jurisdiction as he returned to the local company warehouse after finishing a delivery.

According to Mr. Ansari, the incident began when he paused after hearing commotion, whereupon a mob of around ten men surrounded him and demanded his name. Upon revealing his identity as a Muslim, the group launched an unprovoked and vicious assault on him. Attempting to escape, Mr. Ansari sought refuge in a nearby roadside eatery, but the perpetrators chased him inside, forcibly dragged him out in full view of the staff and customers, and beat him again. CCTV footage from the scene captured the attack.

On November 6, Mr. Ansari sought assistance from Amjad Ullah Khan, spokesperson for the political party Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT). Mr. Khan shared details of the incident on social media, revealing that an audio recording of the entire assault was captured on Ansari’s mobile phone because he had tried calling his brother for help during the incident. Describing the terrifying moment, Mr. Ansari recalled, ‘Before I could tell my brother my location, they snatched the phone. However, the call had not been disconnected,’ allowing the ongoing physical violence to be captured on the open line.

Following the assault, residents rescued the injured delivery executive and transported him to the Raidurgam police station, where a sub-inspector ordered medical evaluations for his treatment. However, upon returning to the police station, Mr. Ansari encountered his alleged attackers inside the premises, where they issued violent death threats against him in front of officers. Mr. Ansari alleged, ‘They told me not to file any complaint, otherwise they would kill me. Police officials were standing right there when this was said,’ while further accusing a constable of extorting ₹1,500 and smashing his phone.

In a video message to the media, MBT spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan sharply criticized local authorities, alleging that the police have routinely failed to act or lodge a Formal First Information Report (FIR) despite clear evidence. Highlighting institutional bias, Mr. Khan stated, ‘For the past two years, a clear pattern has been visible in Telangana, where Muslims are surrounded and beaten by non-Muslims. The police are playing no active role in resolving such cases. Even if an FIR is lodged, there is no investigation or arrest.’
