Bosnia Issues Majority of Work Permit Visas to Bangladeshis

Bangladeshi workers received the highest number of work permits issued to foreign nationals in Canton 10 of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2025, according to statistics from the Cantonal Employment Office in Livno. A total of 50 work permits were issued to foreign workers last year. Of these, 44 were new permits and six were renewals, each valid for one year. Bangladeshi nationals received 35 permits, the highest among foreign workers. Germany and Croatia received three permits each, while Serbia and Brazil received two each. India, Canada, Hungary and Slovenia received one permit each.

The construction sector accounted for the largest share of permits, with 25 issued to foreign workers. Another 12 permits were issued for jobs in the wood processing industry. The recruitment of foreign workers has continued this year. Between January 1 and August 21, a total of 17 work permits were issued, including 12 new permits and five renewals. Nepali workers dominated the new permits this year, receiving 11 of the 12 new permits. The remaining permit went to a Croatian citizen. Nepali workers are mainly employed in the meat processing industry. Senior officials at the cantonal employment service said that an upward trend in the recruitment of foreign workers has been observed across the European labor market over the past few years.
