Dhaka-Kunming Corridor Will Unlock Economic Prospects

The BNP’s strategic vision for foreign policy, organisational dynamism, and national growth has been presented by recently appointed Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Inqilab, Mr. Rizvi discussed important modern concerns, stressing the value of economic corridors, regional collaboration, and self-reliance to protect Bangladesh’s national interests.

Regional economic integration and infrastructural development were major topics of discussion. In response to questions on China’s strategic plan for an economic corridor that would connect Bangladesh, China, and Myanmar, Mr. Rizvi expressed his enthusiasm for the project. Such a framework, he said, would greatly increase international trade, commerce, cultural exchanges, and interpersonal communication, acting as a huge catalyst to unlock the country’s enormous economic potential.

Regarding diplomatic relations with India, Mr. Rizvi stated that heads of state’s official visits should be jointly arranged through appropriate diplomatic channels rather than being constrained by arbitrary timetables. Furthermore, he addressed long-standing issues with infrastructure and water sharing, strongly endorsing the planned Padma barrage project. The Acting Secretary General asserts that surface water reservoirs are vital for preventing regional desertification, minimising groundwater depletion, and safeguarding the agricultural viability of Bangladesh’s northwest and north.

Mr. Rizvi acknowledged initial post-uprising challenges in national governance and administrative changes, but emphasised the administration’s swift and strong action against corruption, extortion, and illegal land grabs. He emphasised that the administration has remained fully transparent about complicated national challenges, such as the stabilisation of the energy supply and the structural rehabilitation of a banking industry that has been severely robbed.

In light of the country’s foreign policy and historical position, Mr. Rizvi suggested the public boycott of foreign products as a potent and symbolic denial of outside support for previous authoritarian actions. He highlighted that Bangladesh places a high priority on cohabitation and respect for one another, emphasising that the country’s sovereignty, security, and independent national identity must be firmly upheld in international interactions.

Mr. Rizvi concluded by stating fundamental organisational principles, noting that his major goal as Acting Secretary General is to keep the party’s grassroots momentum going and avoid administrative complacency. The leadership tries to maintain public confidence and promote long-term national advancement by guaranteeing active political participation in addition to governing duties.
