US labels Palestine Action ‘terrorist’ in support of genocidal Israel

The UK-based activist organization Palestine Action has been designated a ‘Specially Designated Global Terrorist’ by the US government and thus is subjected to severe financial restrictions. According to the organization, it is a direct social movement that opposes Israel’s regime against Palestinians. Following the US declaration, the UK government responded by fully prohibiting all activity of the group within its borders, drawing intense criticism from international legal and political experts.

Global human rights groups have expressed outrage and disapproval of these concerted actions. Leading observers, such as Amnesty International, have criticized the UK’s implementation of strict counterterrorism laws, claiming that they seriously undermine fundamental rights to peaceful protest and freedom of speech. The prohibitions have been seen by critics as a concerning attempt by state authorities to suppress criticism about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and crush democratic rights.

Meanwhile, amid the continued fighting, the humanitarian situation on the ground keeps becoming worse. Since the ceasefire deal first went into effect in October of last year, Israeli soldiers have regularly broken it. At least seven Palestinians have reportedly been murdered in recent attacks carried out throughout Gaza, and these ongoing violations are putting civilian lives at risk and heightening regional tensions.
