Visible Development Under BNP Government Delights Bhanga Residents

The long-cherished desire of locals in Bhanga, Faridpur, finally comes true after 16 years, with the approaching nationalization of Bhanga Women’s College, bringing Eid-like joyful delight to the region. Residents and educators from the area, such as university student Mr. Ansar Uddin, Madrasah Principal Md. Yusuf Hossain, and college instructor Mr. A. Bari Miah, voiced their opinions and described Bhanga as a key hub of the southwest. They pointed out that BNP supporters had previously suffered greatly from systematic oppression, false accusations, imprisonment, and relentless oppression that frequently forced people into hiding and prevented them from even attending the funerals of their own close relatives because of police brutality and harassment.
Under the initiative of Md. Shahidul Islam Babul, Bangladesh Krishak Dal General Secretary and Faridpur-4 MP, development work has officially begun to fulfill electoral promises made during a rally in Faridpur. Bhanga Women’s College is moving closer to nationalization due to his combined efforts. This milestone, according to stakeholders, confirms the local voters’ choice to support the BNP’s sheaf of paddy symbol. Completing this procedure would change educational options in the area by significantly increasing accessible, high-quality higher education for middle-class and underprivileged female students in five to six local upazilas.
The Acting Principal of Bhanga Women’s College, Md. Shofi Uddin Molla, praised MP Md. Shahidul Islam Babul for initiating the nationalization process. He emphasized that in the past, female students had to make the long 35-kilometer journey to Faridpur for higher education, putting families under continual stress because of dangerous highway traffic, deadly accidents, and an increase in street harassment incidents. Additionally, local madrasah principal Maulana Mashrur reported that the school has maintained a great academic record, with an outstanding pass percentage of almost 83 percent in the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate exams.
MP Babul recently announced the college’s nationalization at a public event, which caused unexpected celebrations and a great deal of excitement. The college was first brought under the MPO plan under the 2001–2006 BNP government. On August 28, MP Babul posted an update on his official Facebook page stating that the administrative process to nationalize the college is moving along efficiently. He stated that the Prime Minister has sent necessary documents to the relevant ministry and expressed great hope that these shared goals would soon come to pass, inspiring new hope across the community.
Apart from this educational achievement, there are a lot of conversations going on about more extensive infrastructure development in the upazilas of Bhanga, Sadarpur, and Charbhadrasan. Rapid development and building work on about 40 to 45 paved and unpaved roads throughout all three upazilas is presently under development due to MP Babul’s determined advocacy. The public is still quite optimistic that Bhanga Women’s College will become a completely government-run institution as a result of these quick administrative and physical reforms, which will also speed up female education and regional linkages.
