SCO Alliance Strongly Condemns US-Israeli Attacks on Iran

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a major Eurasian alliance, has strongly condemned and protested the joint military attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory. The organization reaffirmed its position in a joint declaration adopted at a recent summit of its member states. In the declaration, SCO member states expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East and the developments in Iran. They said such military aggression against the sovereign territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran constitutes a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The declaration further stated that the attacks had resulted in the deaths of a large number of civilians and caused extensive damage to Iran’s economic infrastructure. According to SCO leaders, such unilateral and aggressive actions pose a serious threat to international peace, security and global stability. The SCO member states made clear that disputes and differences in the Middle East should be resolved solely through political and diplomatic dialogue to restore peace and stability in the region. They stressed that unlawful military attacks against any sovereign state cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
