New Aid Flotilla Sets Sail For Gaza To Break Israeli Blockade

International ships are presently passing by European ports to prepare for their planned arrival on the Gaza coast in October as part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) new naval mission to challenge Israel’s naval blockade on the Gaza Strip. On Saturday, September 5, Al Jazeera covered the story, emphasizing that the humanitarian suffering of common Palestinians is still severe even after a ceasefire was announced in October 2025. According to the coalition, they have not been discouraged by Israeli authorities’ brutal interceptions, torture, and repression in the past, which has led them to sail again with even more willingness to violate the restrictions.

At the beginning of the month, the ship ‘Kate’ left Bristol to land in Ireland, Germany, and France before continuing through Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Meanwhile, the ship ‘Handala 2’ has already begun its journey, having visited Norway, Sweden, and Denmark during the months of June and July. A member of the FFC steering committee, Mr. Zohar Chamberlain Regev, emphasized the mission’s urgency by saying that the flotilla set sail once more because governments around the world ignored their obligations, promising to deliver their demands to every port so Palestinians can live freely and with dignity.

For this humanitarian mission, human rights advocates, journalists, medical teams, and public officials from all over the world joined together. They are appealing to the international community to ensure safe travel and apply diplomatic pressure to remove limitations on food, water, and medication. Over 90% of Gaza’s water and sewage infrastructure has been damaged, according to UNICEF, and more than 1,300 Palestinians have died since the 2025 truce.
