Bernie Sanders Slams JD Vance Over Iran Conflict Remarks
US Senator Bernie Sanders has sharply criticized recent comments by US Vice President J.D. Vance, who refused to call the ongoing military conflict between Iran and the United States a “war.” The independent senator from Vermont expressed his anger at Vance for refusing to call the ongoing military conflict between Iran and the United States a “war.”
In a message on social media ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Sanders wrote, “J.D. Vance says what’s happening in Iran is not a ‘war.’ Please explain that to the families of the 19 US service members who lost their lives; or to the families of the thousands of people who have been killed across the region.”
Earlier, Vice President J.D. Vance commented at a White House briefing that he did not agree to call the matter a “war” because there was no “active shooting” or direct gunfire taking place. President Donald Trump later supported the vice president’s statement, saying that this was essentially a “military conflict,” not a conventional war.
However, it is clear from this statement and the ensuing debate that there has been a major linguistic and perceptive difference between senior lawmakers and the administration in addressing the continuing US military campaign in the Middle East and its brutal reality.
