Another 100 Bodies Recovered From Gaza Rubble After 2 Years

Nearly 100 bodies and human remains of Palestinians have been recovered from under the rubble in Gaza more than two years later. The bodies were brought before relatives in the Zeitoun area of Gaza City on Saturday.

Rescue workers from Gaza’s Civil Defense recovered the bodies in recent days from the rubble of several homes destroyed in Israeli attacks. They were later placed near Imam Al-Shafi Mosque in Gaza City, where relatives saw their loved ones for the last time and prepared for burial.

In the second phase of an ongoing recovery project by Gaza’s Civil Defense, efforts are underway to recover bodies from 147 destroyed homes in Gaza City, northern Gaza and central Gaza. An estimated 1,072 bodies are believed to remain beneath the rubble of these structures. Earlier, during the first phase, which began in November 2025, around 333 bodies and human remains were recovered from 54 destroyed homes and structures. Rescue operations have been progressing slowly due to limited equipment and a shortage of heavy machinery.
