Initiative To Launch E-Parliament For A Modern Parliament
Speaker Mr. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed directed the formation of a specialized committee led by Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal to create a modern, paperless, and technologically advanced parliament in Bangladesh. Key committee members, including Mr. Nayab Yusuf Ahmed and Mr. ATM Mosharraf Hossain, as well as senior officials from the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat, attended a strategic discussion in the parliament on Sunday, September 6, which ended in this decision. To guarantee an easy digital transition for legislative activities, the newly established committee has been assigned to carefully examine the proposed system’s architecture, technology infrastructure, and implementation roadmap.
Document management, information preservation, and institutional interaction are meant to be improved by the planned e-parliament system, which is available in both Bengali and English. Leadership stressed during the discussions that digitizing these processes will significantly improve administrative effectiveness, increase collaboration, and save operating expenses and paper usage. Speaker Mr. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has particularly directed that a formal presentation detailing the operational processes, technical capabilities, and execution timeframe be presented by the end of September to sustain project momentum.
Authorities have made the decision to work with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as well as other foreign donor nations and international organizations, to ensure its effective execution and gain technical experience. Utilizing foreign collaboration will help with the project’s succeeding phases, marking a significant milestone for the present administration. When fully operational, this project will transform legislative operations by creating a transparent, quick, and incredibly efficient parliamentary framework powered by contemporary technology.
