There Is No Room to Alter the Shariah of Islam

Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Abdul Malek, said in yesterday’s Friday pre-khutbah address that Allah closed the door of prophethood with the coming of the Final Prophet (SAW), the last of all prophets. He said believing in our Prophet is the path to attaining nearness to Allah, and that through the Messenger (SAW), Allah revealed the final scripture, the Holy Quran. He said those deprived of the Holy Quran have no way to be saved from Hellfire; those who believe in the Holy Quran are the rightly guided, while those who deny the Quran are destined for Hellfire, and no guidance can be found by straying from it. He said the Shariah of the Quran is the final Shariah, and no distorted Shariah can be followed instead — Allah has commanded that this final Shariah be followed, and that faith cannot remain intact if one follows an abrogated or distorted Shariah.
The Khatib said Western culture is a culture steeped in ignorance (Jahiliyyah), and that those who abandon the Quran to follow such ignorant culture are destined for Hellfire. He said only those deprived of the knowledge of divine revelation go astray, and that Allah has promised to Himself protect and preserve the Quran that He revealed. He said the Shariah of Islam will remain in force until the Day of Judgment, that there is no room to alter it, and that the Holy Quran will remain intact until the Day of Judgment — any attempt to alter its directives will be burned to ashes.
Khatib of Mirpur’s historic Baitul Mamur Jame Mosque, Mufti Abdur Rahim Qasemi, said in yesterday’s pre-khutbah address that giving away property while retaining ownership rights amounts to deception, which is outside Islamic Shariah and a clear violation of Allah’s law — contrary to the provisions Allah has laid down for the distribution of a deceased person’s estate. He said that in Islamic Shariah, giving something away as a gift and then retaining ownership of it is like vomiting and then eating it again. He explained that under the provisions of the Property Distribution Bill 2026, passed in parliament on September 6, parents who wish may gift or donate their property to their children while retaining their own ownership — that is, their right of use and enjoyment.
He said the essence of the passed law is that a person may transfer their property in their children’s name during their lifetime, but as long as the parents remain alive, the child cannot actually enjoy that property — meaning the child cannot live in it, earn income from it, or benefit from its produce or rent. He called this deception and fraud, saying Allah has given strict commands to avoid such deception. Secondly, he said, such a gift or donation deprives the deceased’s other heirs of their rightful due; since the matter of a deceased person’s estate is sensitive, Allah Himself has apportioned the shares of the estate among heirs in the Holy Quran, and no one has the authority to alter this Allah-given distribution — anyone who denies Allah’s prescribed method of distribution becomes a disbeliever. He therefore argued that the Property Transfer Bill 2026, concerning gifting or donating property while retaining lifetime ownership rights, is contrary to Islamic Shariah.
He cited a verse (Surah An-Nisa, verse 7) establishing that both men and women have a determined share in the property left by parents and close relatives, whether the amount is small or large. Regarding gifting property to children during one’s lifetime, he cited a hadith instructing fairness among one’s children, even in expressions of affection (Musannaf Abdur Razzaq), and another warning that anyone who deprives someone of their rightful inheritance share will have their right to Paradise revoked by Allah. He also cited verses 13 and 14 of Surah An-Nisa, which state that those who disobey Allah and His Messenger and transgress the set limits will be cast into Hellfire to abide therein forever, facing a humiliating punishment.
The Khatib welcomed the government’s announcement, made on September 6 — the same day the Property Transfer Bill-2026 was passed in parliament — of forming an Ulama advisory committee to resolve concerns related to the bill, and urged the government to promptly repeal the passed bill, take a stand in favor of Islam and public welfare, and called on the general public to exercise patience in order to maintain peace and order in the country. He prayed that Allah accept everyone’s efforts.
Khatib of Dhaka Mugda Bank Colony’s Rasulbagh Jame Mosque, Mufti Rahmatullah Taqi-bin Abdul Gani, said in yesterday’s pre-khutbah address that Allah created humans as the finest of creation, but that since the beginning of human history, Iblis (Satan) has revealed himself as humanity’s greatest enemy. He said Satan’s chief aim is to lead people astray from the straight path, create aversion toward the rules of Shariah, lure people through temptation into becoming inhabitants of Hell, and whisper doubts into hearts to encourage opposition to Shariah. He cited a Quranic verse (Surah Fatir: 6) warning that Satan is an enemy and should be treated as such, since he calls his followers only so that they may become companions of the blazing Fire.
He said Satan does not push people into major sin all at once, but instead cunningly whispers into hearts and makes sinful acts appear attractive, citing Satan’s own declared challenge to Allah (Surah Al-A’raf: 16) that he would lie in ambush on the straight path to mislead people from every direction. He said that from time to time, we see attempts, through Satan’s incitement acting through certain people, to impose various Shariah-contrary practices upon Muslims in order to fulfill Satan’s agenda — and that in the present time, a conspiracy is underway to impose the Shariah-contrary “Heba” (gift) law upon Muslims, which is clearly contrary to the provisions of the Quran and Hadith. He said imposing such a matter upon Muslims is not appropriate, and conscious Muslims will never accept it. He said those responsible in the country should understand the religious sentiments and needs of the Muslim-majority population and frame rules accordingly; otherwise, all those involved will be counted as agents of Satan and Taghut, will bring about their own ruin, and will eventually be cast onto the dustbin of history.
Khatib of Dhaka’s Mugda Uttar Manda Baitun Noor Jame Mosque, Shaikhul Hadith Mufti Faizullah Jibonpuri, said in yesterday’s pre-khutbah address that Islam is a religion of peace, and a believer (Mu’min) is the practical embodiment of that ideal and principle. He said various chapters of the Holy Quran clearly outline certain specific character traits and qualities of believers that not only ensure salvation in the Hereafter but also play a unique role in building a disciplined, beautiful, and peaceful society. In his Friday address, the Khatib said that proper practice of these qualities in daily life is what makes a person a true and successful believer. He said a believer is not confined merely to personal worship, but rather reflects the true teachings of the Quran in their character, social conduct, mutual dealings, and overall way of life. He said it is only by embodying and practicing these qualities that an ideal, beautiful, and just society can be built, and prayed that Allah grant everyone the ability to attain the qualities of a true believer.
