Nahid Islam announces Nasir, Asif for Dhaka city polls
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has officially announced the names of Mr. Nasiruddin Patwary and Mr. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan as mayoral candidates for the Dhaka South and North City Corporation elections. On Sunday, the party’s convener and opposition Chief Whip, Mr. Nahid Islam MP, announced their candidacy.
On this occasion, a coordination meeting was held with prospective councillor candidates from various wards of the two city corporations. Mr. Nahid Islam provided overall guidance at the meeting.
At the meeting, importance was given to identifying prospective councillor candidates, pinpointing ward level civic problems, and maintaining constant contact with the families of the July martyrs and injured. At the same time, Mr. Nahid Islam directed strict surveillance over the subversive activities of the fallen and fugitive Awami League.
The NCP stated that organizational activities are being further strengthened at the ward level to advance election preparations ahead of the Dhaka South and North city corporations.
Various leaders, including the conveners of NCP’s South and North metropolitan units, Mr. Ishaq Sarkar and Mr. Ariful Islam Adib, were present at the coordination meeting.
